“What the hell does Smibbie mean??”
Well, it has been a lifelong nickname of mine as well as my online handle for most websites around the inter webs. It’s pronounced like [smib – bee] with a short i. Similar to how you say twig, fig, pig, etc. The first5 letters are part of an acronym. It means Skinny Mini Itty Bitty Britney. With that said, let me properly introduce myself.
My name is Britney. I am a 23 year old student born and raised in Philadelphia, PA (the land of cheesesteaks, abandoned housing and shitty sports teams with hardcore fans! yay!). I’m a critical thinker to my core and have always had a tendency to question a lot of the things I observe in the world. When I’m not researching or indulging in my independent studies, I’m usually playing video games, working, going random places at random times and driving off into the sunset with no where in particular to go. I’m a bit of a free spirit and love to travel very much.
So, what’s your soapbox for?
I am a bit of a social commentator, so being able to share my thoughts with the world through a public forum such as this is somewhat vital to me. A wide range of topics will be discussed in hopes of generating feedback. I want to be heard of course but more than that, I want to listen. I want to hear what you guys have to say in response to some of the things I will talk about. I must warn you, some of my content will be very unorthodox and may be very controversial topics of discussion, may wake up some people, and might even change a way of thinking. The purpose of this soapbox is to educate and entertain my generation in a way schools and the mainstream media never will.
Where do you get your information from?
Most of the information I receive all come from a variety of sources. Documentaries, news articles, and various websites are just a select few. However, I strongly suggest, encourage and urge you to do your own independent research on the topics I discuss to form your own opinions. I will do my absolute best to source as much of my information as possible for you to do more research on. Do not just blindly believe anything I write without first researching the topic at hand. Many people willfully accept the things people say to them as truth. I say this because I feel this is a bit of a problem among many people these days.
Are you some kind of conspiracy theorist?
Short answer? No. Well, at least not in the way the media portrays conspiracy “theorists” as overly paranoid, tin foil hat wearing imbeciles. Long answer? I enjoy and spend a decent amount of time educating myself on the world around me and what the future of our society may hold. I’m not a conspiracy “theorist” by any means of the term and I am most certainly not a theorist. I attempt to take educated, well informed positions in various subject matters and I usually have proof for why I think the way I do. I am simply a spectator. A social commentator if you will. George Carlin once said, “If you’re born in the world, you’ve got a ticket to the freak show. If you’re born in America, you’ve got a front row seat.” I choose to focus more on matters that can be backed up by hard evidence and facts, not so much just theory alone although it may be fun to entertain the thought at times. However, I don’t rule “conspiracy theories” out to be idiotic or anything like that. There very well could be truth to some of those theories but until I have hard evidence to back any of it up I will refrain from posting a lot articles about it. The important rule is keeping an open mind.
How did you come up with the title “Smibbie’s Soapbox”?
Smibbie is simply my nickname. Soapbox is a bit of a saying used to describe people in the 1700s who made very impromptu speeches about politically charged topics while standing on top of an old fashion soapbox.
How often will you post new articles?
New articles will be posted once or twice weekly. If I have extra time to write then you might see more than just a few new articles a week. I have other things such as work and college to deal with so I will make the best effort to post as much as I possibly can.
How can I contact you?
The best way to contact me or to keep up to date with the latest news on this blog is via Facebook or Twitter. You can also feel free to sign up for updates on the latest posts via Email. If you want to contact me directly please shoot me an email to email@example.com.
